I did not put them in this small space next to the stove, they just like to cram themselves in there and form a triplet train (please note there are clear safety plugs in that outlet, we’re responsible like that.)

Jack won’t stop climbing behind the couch and under the end table so that he reach the telephone and press the speaker button over and over again. Once he is wedged between the couch and table, he can’t get out so he shrieks until I lift him out of captivity. He likes to be off by himself examining toys to figure out how they work. He pushes the tapes back into the VCR after they rewind and sometimes runs down the hallway laughing at the top of his lungs. He has an excellent laugh which is made even more special because he only laughs when he chooses- not as often as the other two. You have to be funny to make Jack laugh- he has discerning taste.
Lily follows me everywhere I go and if I close the door or go downstairs, she sits there staring at the last place she saw me until I come back. When I pick her up after being gone, she beams at me and pats me on the shoulder as if to say, “it’s okay Mom, you’re back where you belong now.” She won’t go to sleep if her brothers are awake and crawls to her chair when they sit down to eat. She won’t eat most food but will chew whatever I’m serving then scrape it off her tongue with her fingers. However, the other day I found her under the table covered in chocolate with red Hershey’s Kiss foil in her mouth. Apparently, she won’t eat unless it is on her terms and it is candy.”Atta girl.

She is the most expressive of the three babies and communicates with her facial expressions and widening variety of signs. Her favorite sign is “All Done” which she employs whenever I try to feed her, change her diaper or fix her chronic bed head. She loves to dance and waves her arms around whenever music plays.
Ethan cracks me up on a daily basis- he is the funniest toddler ever. He can only say three things, “Hi Daddy!”, “NO” (said like “Nah” in a very stern tone and usually repetitively), and “Tickle”. I doubt I could find other 19 month olds that have such a limited yet relatively complicated vocabulary. He does know how to say “Momma” but rarely says it. It is so unfair that I’m with the kids 90% of the time yet they say “Da-Da” and “Daddy” like they’ve just seen Elvis. Ethan likes music as well and stomps while spinning in circles. Sometimes while repeating “tickle, tickle, tickle!” and laughing.
As a trio, the kids interact more every day. They follow each other around with a total monkey see, monkey do attitude. Lily keeps up with the boys and takes away their toys as often as they took away hers. Well, maybe not as much as Ethan who likes to take whatever the other babies have and run away while shouting “Nah, Nah, Nah!” but they get him back. These kids should be accomplished football players by the time they are in kindergarten because I’ve seen them chase each other, pull the other kid down and wrestle away the coveted item before hitting the carpet. I’ve seen Lil pull her brother out of a chair by his hair, shove him over and take his seat while innocently smiling. Jack gets his feelings hurt by Ethan’s constant pursuit of his drinks and toys. He usually comes running to me sobbing his specific “My brother is a bully” cry for some comfort.
Every morning, they wake Daddy by running and crawling to the bed giggling and shrieking until he wakes up and tosses them in the air while they hysterically laugh. When it is meal time, I tell them it is time to eat and they walk over to their booster seats. When it is bath time, I run the water and they run to the bathroom. At bed time, I tell the boys “Night, Night”, they run to their room, I put them in bed and they cry a bit before falling off to sleep within two minutes. They are so in sync with each other that I’m amazed by their interaction.
I feel so lucky to raise these kiddos- they make me laugh everyday and give me a reason to watch Sesame Street while playing with their toys. They are wonderful little people and the time I’m spending with them is flying by. Parenthood- the hours are long but the days fly by. I’m lucky to fly with my crew.
